Danien has worked with big names in the US games industry such as Black Isle Studios, Pandemic Studios and Interplay Entertainment. He will give insights into the people, processes, technologies, business and future of the gaming industry in Singapore.

ANIMATION & GAMES PROGRAMMING - 25th August 2007

After the success of the first 'Study for a Day' event, SAE Institute is organising another one on the 25th of August, 2007 from 10.30am - 5pm.

In anticipation of the course start for Animation and Games Programming on September 24th, potential students are again invited to experience studying the Degree and Diploma in Animation & Games Programming at the college with useful hands-on tutorials in 3D Modeling and Games Programming for only $20!

We have invited professional video game developer Danien Chee to speak about "What is the game industry really like?". It gives an introduction to:

* the people
* the processes
* the technologies
* the business
* nature of the industry
* insights on why the industry has developed the way it has
* the current status of the local and worldwide industry

STUDY FOR A DAY ANIMATION & GAMES PROGRAMMING

SAE Institute Singapore is organising a 'Study for a Day' event in which students can experience studying the Degree and Diploma in Animation & Games Programming at the college for a day for only $ 20!

The event and will be conducted on the 14th July 2007 from 10.30am - 5pm here at SAE Institute Singapore @ 71, Bencoolen Street #02-01.

The event will start off with an introduction to SAE Institute and its Animation and Games Prorgamming courses . The programme curriculum and method of studying will be explained and previous student projects will be screened. Additionally participants of this event will have a hands-on session of Animation using a 3D software with SAE lecturer Chee Yong followed by a presentation about the Animation and Games Programming industry in Singapore by Robin Tan from IGDA.

This is a unique opportunity to check out the college, its staff and have all your questions regarding the courses answered and to learn something new about the Gaming industry in Singapore!

Next College Open Day

Workshop with Laurence Adalian about Visual Effects!

 

The two sessions held by Laurence Adalian were a total success! Over 90 students and industry professionals took part in the FREE WORKSHOP and presentation that proved to be very relevant and useful for their current or future career paths. Laurence spoke about Video post-production including visual effects and compositing projects as well as strategies to enter and establish a career in the professional industry upon graduation from SAE Institute.

SAE Institute Graduation Show & Party!

Congratulations to graduates from class AEDF 306!

Graduating students from the Audio Engineering Diploma class of 306 at SAE Institute got to exhibit and pitch their work and production ideas directly to the industry professionals during their Graduation Show @ the school's premises on Friday 27th of April 2007.

The graduation exhibition which included guests from Steinberg, SSL Asia, Sennheiser, EscapeInc, Singapore Press Holdings, Broadcast Solutions, the Right Angle as well as many other media professionals was followed by a film screening from current Digital Film student works and a party @ Pitchblack in Haji Lane.

Well done guys and good luck for your future!

Laurence Adalian has been working in the post-production industry for several years and is one of the most senior lecturers of SAE Byron Bay. Laurence will be touring seven SAE campuses in Asia and Middle East, with a stop-over in Singapore next Monday 14th May!!

The Moving Forward workshop will constitute an over view of the hurdles and possibilities the film and TV industry hold for students moving into the professional world from educational arena.

SAE Institute Film Student Screening at Wildlife Asia Film Festival !

Congratulations to Tay Hoo Wee (top & bottom right) who had his recent documentary about recycling efforts in Singapore screened at this year's Wildlife Asia Film Festival! His documentary was created during his Diploma in Digital Film Production course with SAE Institute which he completed in October 2006. Ho Wee is now pursuing his Bachelor Degree with SAE Institute and aiming to produce more films and documentaries. Good Luck Hoo Wee!

The Wildlife Asia Film Festival was held from the 13-16th March 2007 in Singapore and many of the current SAE Institute Film students assisted as volunteers for the Festival such as Osman Sarip (bottom left).

New Office Space for SAE Institute

SAE Institute is growing not only in its courses and student numbers but also in floorspace! We have expanded our premises with an additional floorspace of 2000 square feet in which our new Reception, Management and Teacher's offices are located. There will also soon be another lounge area as well as a brand new big Recording Studio.

Introducing HDV for all new DIGITAL FILM students !!!

SAE Institute Singapore is introducing HDV format and a brand new film studio fitted with green-screen cyclorama for all students starting the Diploma in Digital Film Production on the 26th of March 2007!!

The Diploma ranges from video production, audio, multimedia to 3D animation and visual effects! Students will be geared to handle the latest HDV camera, dramatic lighting and even various aspects  of editing and compositing with the newest Apple Imacs and G5 workstations!

SAE Singapore welcomes Ms. Anna C. Mallon as new General Manager of the school as of February 2007 onwards ! Former GM Alexander Gehrig has gone onto his new role as SAE's Regional Manager for Asia and the Middle East and is now based in SAE Dubai.

'I have been with SAE Institute for many years, first in Germany and later in Belgium, and am excited to start managing this school in Singapore. The amount of talented people studying and working with this Institute amazes me and I am truely looking forward to a future with all of them.'

As part of the Asian Festival of First Films Jim Hart's 'Dracula' directed by Francis Ford Copolla was screened to SAE Students on 1st of December followed by a workshop and Q&A session on script writing and sound design with Jim Hart.

Jim Hart wrote to SAE after the workshop:

"Just a quick email to say thank you to you, your staff and all the students who attended our brief but very rewarding session for me. It is always uplifting for me to see young people engaged in the arts no matter at what level. Please thank them for me for their participation.

They have such excellent opportunities through your Institute programs.

Best to you these holidays and in the coming peaceful (hopefully) year ahead.

SAE Students volunteer at Asian Festival of First Films

SAE Institute Singapore is proud to be a supporter and film sponsor for this year's Asian Festival of First Films. AFFF invited all local SAE students to participate in this film festival by being volunteers which is a great opportunity for them to see how a film festival is run and to meet famous film makers. Besides issuing them a paper for their resume that they were a volunteer in this festival, AFFF will also provide them with free screening tickets and other goodies !!!

SAE Students at Indoor Stadium for exciting Internships with Whitewolf Media

SAE Institute has recently sent some film and audio students for exciting internships within the live broadcasting sector with Whitewolf Media. They assist the Whitewolf Media crew with Motion Graphics and Live Broadcast Production for the Australian NBL Tournement held in the Singapore Indoor Stadium. This is an exciting opportunity for these media students as training within this sector is rare and SAE Students were exclusively selected by the Producer David Tully.

What a credit!!!!! Congratulations to the team of Studios 301 Cologne. SAE Institute proudly announces another top act at its world class recording facilities. In early August 2006 Robbie Williams decided to spend two of his free days (he is currently on a world tour) at Studios 301 Cologne to do some recordings (maybe for his next album?)
